Azar Swain Balls Out and Drops 48 at the HDM Prep Classic

Last weekend Rivers Academy's Azar Swain went off and scored 48 points at the Hoop Dreams Mag classic.  Although Rivers actually lost in the final few seconds, Swain's game was one of the best the NEPSAC has seen this season.  Almost every shot he threw up fell through the nylon en route to a season best

Mamadou Diarra Had A Dominant Weekend In Boston

Putnam Science Academy's Mamadou Diarra was dominant this weekend.

On Saturday he and his team beat Jean-De-Bredeuf (Canada) at the Hoop Dreams Mag Prep Classic.  Diarra collected 23 points and 12 rebounds with 19 of his 23 coming in the first half.  Many of his points came off of second chance points, and Diarra barely got to play in the second half because they held a hefty lead even at half time.

On Sunday, the Putnam big continued his dominant play.  En route to a 80-67 win over MacDuffie, Diarra scored 19 points in a high intensity game at the Ballas TV Invite.  The two teams dogged each other right from the tip of the game with both John Calapari (Kentucky) and Jamie Dixion (Pitt) in attendance.

Diarra proved this weekend that he is ready to compete at the next level.  The UConn commit is going to be a force next year in the American Conference.  With his display of strength in the paint and the ability to finish like a grown man, do not be surprised if Diarra actually ends up stealing minutes from some of UConn's key players next year.

Highlights from Diarra's dominant weekend are below:
