#7 Texas Hangs On To Beat #24 UConn

Texas Celebrates Their Late Game Victory Over UConn
Via ESPN
Yesterday, the Texas Longhorns marched into Connecticut for a top 25 match-up with the UConn Huskies.

Texas ended up winning the game on a late game three pointer by Jonathan Holmes.  With 2 seconds left he sank the game winning three pointer to lift the Longhorns to a 55-54 victory.  Holmes finished with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

On the other side, Ryan Boatright led UConn all game.  The senior guard finished with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.  He seemed to struggle getting help from his teammates though, and had to set everything up himself.

UConn also had trouble finishing inside all game because of the Texas big men.  Texas finished with 8 blocks and changed many other shots in the paint.

The Huskies did receive help from freshman Daniel Hamilton though.  He finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  The freshman has been playing great for UConn
thus far.

Texas won even without their star point guard Isaiah Taylor.  He suffered a broken wrist in the 2K Classic and is sidelined for a while.  Although he couldn't be on the court to help his team, Taylor still sat next to the coaches on the bench and helped to set a game plan.

The Longhorn's also received contribution from Javan Felix and Demarcus Holland, who both scored 10 points.

Texas now heads to Kentucky for a matchup with the top-ranked Wildcats.  They are playing at 7pm Et. on Friday.  The Longhorns hope their size down-low will disturb Kentucky's loaded offense.

The Longhorns will most likely jump in the rankings before Friday's matchup, after their big win over UConn.  Texas is now 6-0 to start off the season.
